Looking good doesn't mean spending hours on yourself or loads of money. There are simple and offbeat ways to enhance your assets – naturally!

Here I share tips for looking good from my own experience. I am not "qualified" as a stylist or beautician but I do consider myself a beauty guru because I aspire to reveal outward beauty as well as inner beauty.

I've got some realistic beauty tips that won't have you drowning in self-pity, unlike fashion magazines that portray unattainable ideals of looking good.

The rules of good undies

June 8th 2008 06:48
The shrewd woman knows that the right underpants can either make or break an outfit. If undies are too tight or not the right shape for your body, you get bulges from your belly, hips, thighs and bottom which makes your skirts and outer pants look as if they are battling with an undulating landscape.

If undies are too loose, they ride up or sag or crumple up to make waves under your outfits. The wrong undies do not streamline your figure. The right undies do

No more trying on undies!

May 23rd 2008 06:53
I spent $60 on lace knickers, brought them home, tried them on and they were NOT for me! Don't you hate it when you try on underwear that just pushes your thighs out in a way they shouldn't be pushed out or cuts into your bottom like a knife through a pancake. That's why I like to try them and make sure I have the right fit.

Well it seems Myer no loner accepts returns or exchanges on underwear. There are no signs in the store so how was I to know when I went to get a refund on my dud underwear that their store policy had changed. To cut a long story short, the shop assistant took pity on me and decided to refund my money because she believed me when I said I was unaware of the new policy

Today I went to my doctor to get a check-up. I haven't had one in years so I thought it wise to see if I'm in okay shape.

The first thing he asked me, "Do you exercise

Patent yourself

May 18th 2008 09:13
Patent leather and vinyl is around in good measure for winter. It's such a striking look that I will be sure to buy a few "patent" somethings this year.

As a start, I couldn't resist this burgundy handbag that has a semi-patent finish. The traditional patent is glossier but I like the muted patents too. There are a lot of different patent looks to choose from in the stores - some are rich and shiny, others have a scratchy and crinkly finish

Homestyle manicure

May 8th 2008 03:04
I like French manicures - they make your hands look stylish and elegant. Sometimes I get one at a nail salon but not often as I don't mind having bare fingernails either. I'm not one for regular manicures as I think it's just one more thing added to the never-ending list of areas we can maintain.

Most of the time I choose to go bare-finger-nailed. What's wrong with nude nails? Nothing, I say. Yet sometimes you want to have shiny, painted nails

Laser, not the razor?

May 8th 2008 00:54
I have been thinking about getting laser hair removal on my bikini line but I am concerned about what laser really does to us. To be honest, I am worried that laser in this region can affect my fertility.

All my research shows that it's very safe as the laser only penetrates the top layer of skin and does not reach any internal organs but I still can't help feeling some concern. I guess because having babies is very important to me and I would hate to do anything that puts that at risk

Listening to your skin

April 30th 2008 05:19
It's time for a new face moisturiser. Just like your hair tires of using the same shampoo and conditioner for too long, the face also gets bored of the same moisturiser.

I've been using Olay Total Effects for about a year now, and I think my skin is tired of it. It looks a bit lifeless and it doesn't feel as smooth as it used to. However, I am going to finish the current bottle before I buy a new moisturiser for a number of reasons: the bottle is 3/4 full and if I don't finish it up now, it will be money down the drain once I buy the new moisturiser

Sydney vs. Melbourne Fashion

April 21st 2008 09:30
I'm not a fashion expert, just a fashion lover so on a recent trip to Melbourne I was a bit disappointed that it offers nothing different to Sydney.

Melbourne's CBD department stores of Myer and David Jones hold the same labels that Sydney's counterparts do. The only difference I noted was a wider range of Nicola Finetti on display and Tony Maticevski was there too, where as I haven't been fortunate to spot his stuff in Sydney

No Deodorant Day

April 11th 2008 05:06
This tip is not going to be for everyone...but for some it will be acceptable and pleasing.

Most of us are aware that women's underarms turn brown from using anti-perspirant deodorant, and there is nothing wrong in that but I prefer my underarms as they are now - smooth, silky and white

Skin testing Nivea and Garnier

April 9th 2008 04:07
I recently bought two new skin products: one to ward off spots and the other to oxygenate my face.
