Eclectic anyone?

Eclectic items of clothing are not everyone's cup of tea. Some steer away from any type of fabric or style that is not in the current trend of fashion. Conservative style proponents don't like to wear anything that stands out. Others love to spice up their wardrobe with unique, one-off pieces that they just know nobody else will be wearing either because it's a second hand wonder, a great buy from a market designer, a random piece even from a mainstream designer or it's haute couture!
What I love about eclectic garments is that they create a sense of wonder and sensuality. When you wear them, people notice them. I'm not sure exactly how to define an eclectic garment because it's not just the way it looks but how it makes you feel. It makes you feel special, as if you're wearing a rare jewel.
I guess we see so many people copying what celebrities wear that when you actually see someone wearing clothing that is unusual and striking, you stop and look and admire. I don't see enough eclectic stuff on people and on me.
I don't own many eclectic garments...just a few, and some of them are years old and I keep them because they are timeless. That's the other thing about eclectic fashion - it doesn't date like other stuff.
One example is my woven flower motif pants; an elegant, tight-fitting pant with a gentle bootleg cut that evens out the hips very nicely! The fabric is what makes them eclectic. I've had them for about 10 years now and I have recently dug them up for this season. They go perfectly with silk camis either left loose or belted at the waist.
Wearing them the other night gave me inspiration to top up on eclectic items because they're like artwork for the body. Plus I'd say embroidered pants are a rare breed! It's nice to wear something that's totally me and not on every other girl in Sydney.
Someone commented, "I love your pants. They're great!"
"They're old," I said...I'm not good at taking compliments, and then I remembered that I can be better at taking compliments, so I added, "...thanks for the compliment."
