Hairless wonder

I have no scientific evidence for what I am about to reveal, bar my own astute and highly attuned observational powers.
I have been waxing and Emjoing (i.e. using the Emjoi epilator) my legs for over ten years...I can't quite remember exactly when I started. I like having smooth legs for those weeks before the hair starts growing back.
What I don't like about waxing and epilators is the fact that you get ingrown hairs that are often impossible to pluck out without scarring yourself. My skin scars so easily and takes months to heal – I'm not kidding! So when I get those fine hairs that can't push through the surface, I'm torn between leaving them as they are or ripping my skin to shreds to get them out. Guess what I do? Let's just say it's not surprising that my legs on occasion have been spotted with self-made patterns in shades of red, pink, brown and muddled beige.
My leg hair stress caused me to revert to shaving. I know what you wax-addicts want to tell me. Just exfoliate your legs so you don't get ingrowns. Don't ever go back to shaving. Your hair will get thick and coarse and grow like monkey vines. All those years of waxing benefits will gurgle down the hair drain.
I beg to differ. For one simple reason.
When I shave my legs, I use oil – just plain body oil – instead of soap or shower/shaving cream. I dampen my legs, smooth the oil over them and then shave. I have less hair than ever and the hair doesn't start growing back until a couple of days later (unlike shaving with soapy stuff where it grows back the same day!).
And my hair grows back sporadically – leaving my legs fairly smooth for about a week. I know it doesn't sound believable but I think that the oil gets into the hair follicle and somehow blocks it, thereby impeding the hairs' growth. Well, that's my view of it. Plus, with this method of shaving you don't need to moisturise afterwards because the oil does it for you. Now that's a true two-in-one effect.
Try for yourself and tell me what you think. I need more empirical evidence on my theory.

Maybe you should apply for a research grant to look into this 'for the benefit of womankind'. Lol.

I too will give this a go. Ingrown hairs is the reason I don't bother waxing my legs. I'd rather shave than put up with that.
