Laden with luggage for the sake of beauty
February 7th 2008 12:35
I travel to Palm Cove in sunny northern Queensland tomorrow and I'm so excited. It's a much needed break from my Sydney routine.
My friends are already there and one of them just called to let me know, "It's very hot. Travel light."
Hhhmmm...travel light...yes, I'd love to be able to do that but unfortunately I can't or I won't. My beauty case is packed to the brim, and it's heavy but that's the way I like it. I like being a woman with lots of travel paraphernalia.
It's only a 5-day trip so I have chosen a luggage bag and not a suitcase for this trip - which is good progress towards lightness - but the only thing now is that I can't get it closed, even after taking out 3 items! And I refuse to take anymore stuff out. I will need it. I need to have enough clothing to cater for the beach, sightseeing, cocktails and dinners. Isn't this about 20 outfits already...4 changes per day.
The surprising thing is I am only taking 3 handbags - a beach bag, a casual carry bag and one jazzy clutch for the evenings! I am very pleased with my progress here. Usually it's about 6 handbags for any trip I go on. And the final achievement is that I am only taking 4 pairs of shoes - thongs, tie up sandals, high heels and flats. That's well down from my usual 6-8 pairs.
So, if you were looking for me to help you travel light and still look good on holidays, you are reading the wrong blog. My motto: laden yourself with heavy luggage in the hope of having all the things you need to look good.
The day I travel light will be the day I go to heaven...where I suspect beauty cases are not necessary since my skin will glow from the light of the angelic halos all around, and not because of OLAY Total Effects. If they are allowed, I want a gold one!
