No Deodorant Day

April 11th 2008 05:06
This tip is not going to be for everyone...but for some it will be acceptable and pleasing.

Most of us are aware that women's underarms turn brown from using anti-perspirant deodorant, and there is nothing wrong in that but I prefer my underarms as they are now - smooth, silky and white.

Over the last 7 months, working from home has meant that I am not paranoid about my body odour - in other words, I don't use deodorant for my own company! This has meant that my underarms have returned to their natural state.

I know my body quite well, and I am one of those people that does not have a strong body odour. Even when I sweat on my daily walk - without appying deodorant - I don't smell bad. So, this has made me feel comfortable in making minimal use of deodorant.

Apart from the cosmetic effect this is having on my body, I think that more toxins can be released from your body if you allow it to breathe without an anti-perspirant.

I also think that it's worth trying a day of no deodorant, just to see what your body does. How does it smell? Do you really need to wear it if you work in an office, hardly move around throughout the day and therefore, your perspiration is minimal?

It's just a thought...but sometimes I think we overuse products in situations where it's okay not to use them.

Point in case, I went into town the other day - I walked 20 minutes to the station, had lunch with friends, walked through the city again for another 30 minutes, then had a meeting, then sat in a cafe writing for an hour, then walked 10 minutes again to the station to go home, and when I got to my home station walked the 20 minutes to my house. All up, it was an active, full day - over an hour's worth of walking and I decided only to spray a dash of perfumed body spray under my arms rather than an anti-perspirant when I started the day. When I got home, I sniffed my underarms and I did not give off a bad body odour. My top did not reek either. In fact, I smelled fine...pleasant actually.

So, I think every woman should test this out and see how good or bad you can smell without deodorant. Maybe your body does not give off yucky sweat smells...maybe some products play on our fear or paranoia in order to get us addicted to them...maybe we can return to basics in some areas of our life. It may not be possible every day, but maybe you can start your own "No Deodorant" day...and if you're paranoid about it, just don't tell anyone the day you choose in the week for not wearing deodorant. What nobody knows won't hurt them!
