Sometimes a sales assitant will tell the truth

When I go shopping, I want to be left alone by the sales assistants. I know myself and my style well enough to pick out the stuff I like and ignore the stuff I don't.
But going on an experience I had with a pair of earrings that I bought at Kookai, I am not sure if I can pick out those things which will suit me but which I normally don't go for.
Earlier this year, I bought a stack of items from Kookai. After I placed the clothing on the counter to be rung up, I was browsing the accessory displays looking for something to catch my eye. I wanted to try a pair of dangly gold earrings and the sales assistant obliged me and also offered another pair for me to try on. The pair she gave me was big gold hoops. A size I normally wouldn't even look at buying because well I didn't think they were my thing!
When I held up the big pair of earrings to my ear they looked stunning. They outshone the pair I had chosen. So I told the assistant that I was taking the pair she gave me.
Now, after having worn these earrings on numerous occasions, everyone that sees them comments. They suit you. Where did you get them? They are fabulous. Wow. So perfect for the length of your neck. They match the way your hair sits......and on and on to the point where if I get one more compliment about them, I am going to stop wearing them!
Truly, though, it makes me realise that sometimes we should let go of our own opinions and go with what someone else sees in us. Sometimes people can see aspects of ourselves that we don't know are there. They can offer you big, gold earrings because they perhaps see a glint of boldness that you never knew you had.
