Unmask your beauty with yoghurt
October 13th 2007 15:39
There is a hoard of exfoliators available on supermarket shelves and beauty counters but why spend money on them when you can achieve glowing, smooth skin with yoghurt. Yes, you read it right!
Yoghurt is a natural exfoliator. Remember that Cleopatra soaked in milk baths for a reason – lactic acid makes the skin soft and supple!
All you need to do is apply plain yoghurt on your face, leaving the eye area out. Use about 1-2 teaspoons of yoghurt, applying as you would any other face mask. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. You will notice that as the yoghurt dries on your face a slight tingling sensation arrives. Wash the yoghurt off with warm water and then finish off with cool water to help close your pores.
A yoghurt mask is for any skin type, I believe. I have very sensitive skin and this mask works wonders. Don't be concerned if your skin is slightly pink after you remove the yoghurt. Since the yoghurt gets your blood circulation going, this is to be expected. It is by no means abrasive because there are no granules or grains rubbing the skin surface.
Any brand of yoghurt will do – you don't have to use the expensive organic stuff. Just make sure it's plain, not sweetened and doesn't contain added fruits. We do not want fruity vitamins in this skincare regime; we are only after removal of dead skin cells so we can glow.
And you will glow. Run your fingers over your face to see just how smooth your skin becomes. All the yucky, built up grime on your face will have been cleaned away and your pores will be tightened too.
Oh by the way, you can even use expired yoghurt. This is a double bonus since you will be cleaning out old fridge items!
Let me know how you go.
