What to wear on New Year's Eve
December 28th 2007 04:35
We're about 3 days away from New Year's Eve and I've been thinking about what to wear for about a week now. I love planning my outfit for NYE because it's a rare chance to sparkle and wear a gorgeous dress - a dress that has an oomph factor about 10 times more than your other party dresses. That's why picking a NYE dress can be tricky.
I have 3 new dresses that I bought on sale over the last month and I am now trying to choose which one will make it to my body on 31 December.
One big thing that helps me out on NYE is that I wear a new dress - this makes me feel like I'm starting the year with a brand new vibe as well as cancels out any dresses I've previously worn, which could add more difficulty to your decision making process.
Here's how I am evaluating which dress to wear. I have the matching shoes and accessories for all of them so I cannot eliminate the dress on grounds of not having the right shoes, earrings etc. I need to look at other criteria for elimination.
Dress 1 - Black Maxi
Pros: Chic and elegant look. Bare back makes it cool up top. Sexy but not over exposed cleavage as the "girls" will be tidily stowed. No need to wear bra as halter gives good support. Very comfy fabric so can eat a lot of nibbles.
Cons: Long length could make me feel hot. Long length may make it difficult to dance. Maybe a bit too plain.
Dress 2 - Marilyn Monroe style satin halter
Pros: Reminds me of Marilyn's famous dress when she posed atop the New York subway vents except with a playful twist - polka dots on the fabric! This is a glamorous, feminine dress. Feels silky on the skin. Classic style makes the waist tiny and hips stand out. Perfect for the hourglass figure and admirers of such a figure!
Cons: It hugs the waist tightly, so there is hardly any room for eating nibbles. A few too many champagnes may also cause inflated belly and then we have a problem! The "girls" are not as tidily stowed in this dress...they will need regular putting back into place throughout the night as may slip out!
Dress 3 - Gold mini
Pros: Sparkling gold fabric makes it dazzle. Light cotton fabric (would you believe it) will make it so cool and comfy. Modern style so you look really stylish. Shorter length makes it easier to dance in. Also has pockets - disguised in the folds of the fabric at front. A lip gloss can easily fit there.
Cons: Have to wear strapless bra and these are uncomfortable for long periods of time...but I did it last NYE so can do it again!
So, what's my decision on the dress I will wear for NYE? I still have no idea. You didn't really think that analysing it 3 days in advance would give me clarity! No. The decision will come Monday night as I prepare at my girlfriend's place and try on all 3 dresses for her to help confuse me further...
I will post photos of the night so you can see which dress gets chosen.
